The Trumpet's Blast

The sun turned white and began to melt

like boiling cream dripping on a parched earth.

Bubbling death, pale ooze, crept over the land.

Screams rose up from every woman, child and man.

Tongues of fire licked blistering flesh;

Naked bones floated on the river of rippling flames.

Trees splintered into kindling and birds fell from the sky.

Gaping-mouthed souls wrapped in smoke rose in a silent cry.

From space, the cool blue marble spun ruby red.

Flares from the sun continued to slap the dead,

And in a faraway scene eternally near,

An angel blew a trumpet and blinked back the tears.
